Racial

Darkvision: You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Shifting: As a bonus action, you can assume a more bestial appearance. This transformation lasts for 1 minute, until you die, or until you revert to your normal appearance as a bonus action. When you shift, you gain temporary hit points equal to your level + your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 temporary hit point). You also gain benefits that depend on your shifter subrace, described below. Once you shift, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Wildhunt: Wildhunt shifters are sharp and insightful. Some are constantly alert, ever wary for possible threats. Others focus on their intuition, searching within. Wildhunt shifters are excellent hunters, and they also tend to become the spiritual leaders of shifter communities.

Natural Tracker: You have proficiency in the Survival skill.

Mark the Scent: As a bonus action, you can mark one creature you can see within 10 feet of you. Until the end of your next long rest, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make to find the marked creature, and you always know the location of that creature if it is within 60 feet of you. You can’t use this trait again until you finish a short or long rest.

Shifting Feature While shifted, you have advantage on Wisdom checks.

Junmao Avanson was born under the silver glow of a full moon in a secluded grove deep within the woods. His mother, a lycanthrope, quickly bundled him and delivered him to the doorstep of his human paternal grandmother, before stealing away back into the night. As a Wildhunt Shifter, he came into this world gifted with the primal qualities of his ancestors—endowed with heightened senses and an unquenchable thirst for freedom. From a young age, Junmao felt a magnetic pull towards movement and song. He imitated swaying branches, wove stories to small forest animals, and hummed along with the summer breeze. His grandmother recognized this natural talent but feared its implications. In their secluded community, differences were met with suspicion, prompting caution around Junmao's more exuberant expressions.

At sixteen, restless curiosity drove him to wander. Surrounded by thrumming city life brimming with color and laughter, he found belonging among a small group of young performers, traveling from city to city. It was here that Junmao honed not just his dancing skills but also discovered music as another form to convey emotions too complex for mere movement alone: luscious melodies pouring from strings while voices lifted high told tales both tragic and triumphant.

Over time, Junmao and the troupe became known throughout settlements along trade routes, not merely as dancers but as entertainers who wove stories into every performance. However, one day Junmao received a message from his grandmother, begging him to return home. Her health was failing and she was desperate to see him once more. Understanding his distress, the group reassured him that they would be able to find him a horse to get home once they reached the next town. Panicked, Junmao began to make a desperate attempt to leave the troupe at once, arguing heavily with the other members and disparaging their shared dream. One member, the youngest, grew irate and struck Junmao before demanding he leave the troupe immediately, on foot.

Rushing home, Junmao knew he should have listened to the group and been calmer, he was low on supplies and unable to travel as swiftly. When he reached home, he was too late. After mourning for several weeks, Junmao began to gather what he could and set out again. He now travels alone, searching for his old group, eager to make things right.
