AMINALS!
More animals
Give them a haircut, make HAIR CLOTHES!
I did a lot of work on animals this week. Animal products, animal babies, animal tools, animal behaviours, animal sounds. I decided to base my tasks this week on the results of the poll (which you can vote on at the poll here ), so go vote if you haven't, or change your vote if this week's offerings have quelled your mighty hunger.
In addition to just having animals, I also want animals to have their own behaviours. You may have noticed already your chickens getting lonely, or restless, or bullied, and this system is designed to reflect the needs and conditions of real-world farming. Animals like to be outside grazing, and have space to roam around with others, without being too crowded. Some players may ignore that, and prefer to have miserably efficient enclosures, indoors, with very little personal space. Happy animals will make higher quality produce, while poor conditions will result in bullying.
I wasn't really happy with the old system where it was just "interact with your animals every day until their produce maxes out." I wanted something a bit more elastic and environmental. I saw in the old system a lot of players found it most efficient to stick their animals in little 1x1 pens. While you can still do that (and even many real-world farms do that), your animals won't be happy about it. Animals have needs now, and their happiness will be based on that. Battered animals will still take time to adjust and feel comfortable at a more humane farm, and animals can make friends and mourn their passing. I didn't want the interacting to go away entirely though, so you can still hug your animals to get a general feel for their mood. However, if their needs are met and their enclosure is safe and full (but not too full) of friends you shouldn't feel like you're forced to click on every single one of them every single day.
In the future I'll be doing more work on the differences between male/female animals, mating, and breeding, but you may need a signed permission slip for that.

Most Recent - May 30 - Multiplayer Test (Alpha 06)
Trying something a little different this week. Multiplayer was the name of the game, but it's also a thing that takes a lot of time to implement and get working/not janky. So instead of no updates for 2-3 weeks, I decided instead to baby step it in with a smaller game mode to start.
You'll notice there's a basic title screen now, and a multiplayer server browser. Going to multiplayer will bring up the server browser for soccer, my experimental little multiplayer test. It's pretty simple: There are two teams of 4 players each (and a goalie), a ball you can kick by running into it, goals with scoreboard, and running into another player makes you both ragdoll. Utter chaos ensues. Sometimes a ball goes into a goal and everyone celebrates and tackles each other.
I couldn't get it completely done cause of a number of issues that ate up time. Thursday was a complete wash. I spent all day coding and couldn't keep any of it. Unity's networking has... severe issues, and what I could find suggests there's nothing you can do about it besides using something else. So, I'll work on it. I'll also probably update the soccer mode some more to get in the stuff I couldn't get to. It's janky and incomplete, but it's also a blast when it's all going right. I'd suggest having some people ready to go to play with, as finding random games on the browser in the short term may be difficult or laggy.
